Winter Perfection

I’ve been looking forward to hunting for photos in amazing winter conditions, but I’m not sure I’ll be able to top this first outing in January for the rest of the season. Left home under grey skies with no snow on the ground, drove an hour and walked into this valley of absolute winter perfection. Fresh powder and sun streaming through the trees, cold (-14 C) but with no wind it was actually quite pleasant. Stumbling onto the deer drinking from the stream with a face full of ice was a particularly striking moment.
